This unit specifies the outcomes required to perform basic rigging work associated with movement of plant and equipment, steel erections, hoists (including mast climbing hoists), placement of pre-cast concrete, safety nets and static lines, perimeter safety screens and shutters; and cantilever crane loading platforms for licensing purposes.

By undertaking this course, participants will gain the skills and knowledge required to obtain a WorkCover Licence. Upon successful completion of learning activities, participants will progress to assessment by a WorkCover assessor for their licensing test. Participants will receive training in the following skills and knowledge areas;
‘CPCCLDG3001A Licence to perform dogging’ must be completed andevidence of this must be provided before entry into this course. Candidates must be 18 years and over to participate in this course. Persons wishing to undertake this course need to have the physical capacity to carry out the work safely. Basic literacy and numeracy skills are also required for successful completion. To enter the course, participants must also wear steel capped boots, long pants and safety shirt or vest.
Training is a mixture of classroom and practical. Participants must successfully complete written theory and practical demonstration assessments for both the unit and WorkCover to acquire a licence.
The course is delivered over 5 or 6 days of face-to-face and assessment and may be delivered either at FHV Training’s fully equipped premises or in the workplace if appropriate.
RPL / RCC (recognition) is available to participants who can provide evidence of competency for the units undertaken. However, participants will still need to undertake the WorkCover assessment process.
Upon successful completion of this unit of competency, you will have the skills and knowledge to work, or gain employment as a Rigger on worksites in areas such as the building industry, heavy construction industry, marine environments, and on high rise building sites. After completion of this course, participants may also wish to enrol in a Licence to perform rigging intermediate (CPCCLRG3002A) course.
